Wireless Card (how to determine which I have) & Drivers
I have a Chiefmax wireless card for the laptop my daughter uses all it says is
IEEE802.11b WLAN Cardbus Card 2.4ghz/11mbps
That is ALL this card says, I do remember it was made by Chiefmax and it was a budget card like $15 new, but it doesn't say Chiefmax on the card itself anywhere, the only thing on the back is a FCC id number of 06m-we302r.
Her computer finally bit the dust and we got another laptop (older yet still functional) and wanted to use this card to get her back into our home wireless internet.
But I can't for the life of me find a driver disc for it, I can't even figure out which model chiefmax this is because it doesn't say and when I insert it into the laptop it just asks for the cdrom etc (windows 2000) which I can't find, and so even in device manager it just shows as unknown device.
Any tips as to how I can figure out what card I have here and how to get drivers for w2k for it to get it working?

I had an idea (her screen went out but you can still see it very faintly if you shine bright light on it).
Anyways I put the card back in her old laptop here and went to the device manager to read what it says under this card, here is what I can read and see
Provider Wireless Manufacturer
File Version 5.152.0815.2003 built by winDDK
Copyright 2003
and it tells me where this driver is on the system
C / windows / system 32 / drivers / wlpcnds.sys
I know that isn't alot to go on, but could I use a thumbdrive, locate that system driver and install it in the same place on this other computer or have it search for the driver off the thumbdrive or are there more files involved than just the one that shows in the properties window of the old machine here?

Unrelated but the laptop was slammed by a guest during a sleep over party, my daughter is very good with the laptop but her friends were being rough and it got slammed.
I know mainly I am looking at a bulb or inverter, thinking since it went out from forcing the lid down hard that maybe its just the bulb, anyway to check that? Might be worth buying one for $12 on ebay for it just to see if i can bring the dinosaur back to life one more time here...hehe

The version number matches and the maker matches, so hopefully its the right card and will get this thing going here...

I have the exact same card. It uses the RTL8180L Chipset. I haven't tried to use the drivers from other cards that use the same chipset but it might work.
