Computer Doesn't Boot Up At First Try - Yellow Light
Hi!
I have a Compaq Presario 5014US and Windows XP and when I try to boot it up 3 things either happen.
1) Light on top of the Power Button Lights Up Yellow and you can hear the fan running
but the PC doesn't sound as loud as it normally should be. Also, the Harddrive light
just stays light and no signal is displayed on the monitor.
2) The PC powers up completely (light is green instead of yellow) but No signal is
displayed on my monitor so it goes to sleep since there is "No Signal".
3) It works fine again.
Help!
Oh, and Glazed1415 sent me here (Thanks!)

Is this a new problem?
Try resetting the BIOS options to Default as seen in step 4 here:

The "No Signal" indicates that the monitor is doing what it should do. It is just not getting a signal.
The two main suspects would be the Graphics Card or the RAM.
You might try re-seating these. Also does it ever BEEP?

Check all your power and data connections too. And you might remove the side panel and make sure all the fans spin freely - then clean out the dust and dirt while in there.

Ok I'm going to try both suggestions today, I'll be back! :-)

I tried all your suggestions and as of now it's been working fine. (knocks on wood) If I get it happening again I will return to this post. Thank you!
