    Questions.

Alright I have a few questions here:

    1) SATA 1 Drive's will work on SATA 2 connections with SATA 2 mobo's but at the limited speed right?
    2) I want to get a monitor that supports HD. There is such thing right? What does my graphics card require? The card I have currently is an XFX Geforce 6800XT 256MB GDDR3. Will this card do the job or do I have to use ATI's HD series?

    1) Yes. SATA I runs at one half the data rate as SATA II. 1.5GB per sec as opposed to 3.0GB per sec.

    2) HD Monitors do exist and are clearly labeled as HD. The same with graphics cards. They would definitely have HD or HDTV in the product title.

Is there a converter so that my video card that I currently own can support the HD quality on the monitor?

GeForce 8000 series is HD ready:

I don't know of anyway to upgrade your card without replacing it.

Yes they all are. Many are Direct X 10 but they will still run Direct X 9. I am assuming that was your concern?

I have also heard that XP will upgrade Direct X to a 10 level although it will still probably named Direct X 9.ox or some such.

This may be included in SP3 but I am not certain.

so the rumor goes. . .but to answer the question you need to have a vid card that supports HD. you can probably hook a HD monitor to your current vid card with an adaptor but you will not be able to make full use of the HD it will probably be more like a normal LCD, in which case you just wasted a truckload of money. either get a new vid card or a normal LCD screen. the Nvidia 8000 series has HD so does the ati 2600 on up. I think some of the ati 1900 and the nvidia 7900s do as well but dont quote me on that.
