Re: new power supply. how do i know if i can have atx?

I'm sorry to say that just when you thought it was safe to return to the forums I'm back. I've just got one tiny question about the Hiper HPU-4M530. i'm looking at the picture of it and wondering if it is upside down. the power cable hole should have the slightly longer edge to the bottom. as it is the fan is facing upwards which would be right up inside the case. my power cable hole, power switch and fan all face back out of the case. i can see it through the case grill. if it is upside down then the fan blows down into the case. would the small cooling fan be enough to take away the heat it's never had to before? or am i just being paranoid?

sorry to bother you again old bean. but I'm gonna need to know before i buy it.

    regards

    joey

I use Misco (www.misco.co.uk) every week - big choice, good prices, fast delivery and I rarely have any trouble with them. Their biggest competitors are probably Dabs and Ebuyer.

PC World are a retail store - hardly any choice, generally very expensive, staffed by people that know less about what you are asking about than what you already know! Only go in there when you absolutely must have the part today and you're happy to pay through the nose for it!

PC World Business (www.pcwb.co.uk) used to be rubbish for service but they seem to have sorted themselves out now and I've started using them often again. Big choice and good prices.

I have no personal experience of Overclockers UK (OCUK) but I've heard that they're good.

    Hope that helps

thanks for the DJNafey, all the 'cool stuff' in one place. but my question still remains. my psu has a solid top and bottom wires at the front and the fan facing the rear case. the one in the picture has the fan on the bottom, if indeed it is upside down like i believe it to be. if it faces up then they would be no space at all around it.

thanks for the info though, much appreciated.

Yeah, thanks DJNafey! I think I will revisit my list.

It seems like PC World would be similar to our Best Buy and Circuit City retailers. I generally don't buy from there, but often use their websites for reference. When dead pixels were a big concern, I'd wait for sales on LCD monitors and go to the store, have them fire it up before buying to make sure the display was good.

I am surprised at differences between the PC World and the PC World Business websites - it's hard to believe they have the same parent company.

I use Misco... ...I rarely have any trouble with them.
What sort of trouble have you had with them?
