Computer won't start, is this problem irreversible?

Re: Computer won't start, is this problem irreversible?
If you have four slots they are most likely paired:
1 & 3
2 & 4
So if 1 was burnt then that might have also damaged 3.
So I suggest 2 or 4.

If the RAM stick is known to be good then the only other possibility I can think of is to clear the CMOS and try again.
This is done by either removing the motherboard battery for several minutes and or jumping the jumper which would be located near the battery and labeled perhaps CCMS or perhaps JBAT.
These are 3 pin headers with a 2 pin sleeve. Move the sleeve from 1|2 to 2|3 for a few minutes (with the battery removed as well) then move it back to 1|2 and replace the battery.
The fact that the motherboard is beeping indicates that the motherboard is doing what it is supposed to do.
That being said I would verify that the RAM stick is good via another computer.

For future reference, back in the good old days of mechanical relay contacts, we found the best lint free cloth is a nice crisp dollar bill.
