    RAM not Found

I just installed 2GB DRR2 800 RAM ontop of my current RAM of the same model. When I started the Pc with the new ram installed and checked to make sure the RAM was found the PC only found 3.25GB RAM instead of the 4GB actually installed. Any idea whats causing this?
I ran a scan and it seems the PC knows its there but Windows wont find it.
Any help would be so great, Thanks.
    Dan

32 bit Operating systems have a less than 4GB RAM limit.

If you install 4GB the operating system will detect only some range of @ 3.x.

The only way for the operating system to utilize 4GB or more is to use a 64 bit system.

Perhaps some more clarification as to the reasons why can be found here:

I see. Thats a pain, what OS are there that are not 32bit that will recognise and use that entire 4gb of RAM? And how did you know my system is a 32bit OS?
    Thanks Jephree.

The only 64 bit XP is XP Professional 64 aka Server 2003.

Vista offers 64 bit versions of their various models.

Other than this only server operating systems are potentially 64 bit.

I have my gaming machine running XP Pro 64 just for games.

64 bit drivers and software are still hard to find for a PC level.

Most hard core overclockers do not exceed 2GB RAM as far as getting maximum graphics results with the latest 8800's SLi.

I guess the point is there is not the need for that much RAM unless you are running a server.

    Not in today's world anyway.
