Question How do I turn the wireless on?

Hi all - sorry for the somewhat pathetic thread title, but I have just had a very stressful two hours...

My dad was talked into getting a new laptop, which is all very well, except he is not AT ALL computer literate, and only uses the one he has now for playing Solitaire on. Anyway, the new laptop arrived today and he immediately phoned me to go and set it up for him.

The computer came as part of a package whereby my dad changed his electricity and gas over to this company and he got a complimentary laptop. Well...it's a very nice laptop, a Fujitsu Siemens something mobile, and is wireless enabled but when we got to the bit where we had to get the computer to talk to the router (sorry, I have been speaking in this language a lot today) it just wouldn't work. The laptop was fine, the router was fine, and it turned out that the wireless capability was not turned on. The on-screen instructions said that there would be a switch on the laptop, or that it could be activated by a combination of keys - but there isn't a switch, and there was no 'handbook' with the laptop telling us what this combination might be.

As I was at the point of tearing out my hair, and my husband wanted his dinner, I told dad to phone the Fujitsu helpline - but I just know that he won't, and instead will just give up and put the laptop back in the box and it will languish in the back of the cupboard forever more.

So if anybody could tell me what the mystical combination of keys to enable the wireless capability might be, I would be eternally grateful!

has the keyboard got a key with Fn in the bottom left hand side?

have a look at the F1 key look for a blue upside down Y.

try pressing both keys that should turn the functions on and off

Thank you! Well, I say this before I have had a chance to check it, but a quick phone call has established that both of these keys are present.

The bad news is that I have been recalled tomorrow now on the strength of this information, but I will go prepared with tranquillisers....

Seriously, thank you, I know it was a simple question, but it's often the simplest things that are most irritating. Your help is much appreciated
