    A very puzzling problem....

I just swapped out a video card and processor from one computer to another and a strange issue has come up. After getting everything hooked up and flashing the CMOS the computer boots up fine. When I get into the BIOS and load the optimized settings and restart the computer gets just past the first POST beep before shutting down and emitting two long alternating toned beeps. When I flash the CMOS to go back to the original settings and boot it up it works fine. Any thoughts would be appreciated. System specs follow:

    Abit NF7-S2 mobo
    AMD Athlon XP 2600+
    PNY GeForce FX 6200
    Windows XP Pro SP2
    1 GB Corsair Memory (2x512mb 400mhz FSB)

    Just to verify:

You are resetting your CMOS? Not flashing your BIOS?

You might want to flash your BIOS to the latest. Often new versions offer upgraded CPU support.

    Check the Abit web site.

Also depending on your BIOS "brand" the BEEPS should tell you the problem.

Yes I am resetting the CMOS...I actually updated the BIOS not too long ago (obv before my recent problems) with the latest files available from Abit. Its a Phoenix BIOS and I have checked the list of beep codes but could not find something like what I am experiencing.
