Can you help?

I have been running a pc for about 6 months now and it's been fine I go away on my Holiday come back and now it will not start up?
The lights and fans all come on but screen stays in standby mode....
I have checked the HDD, G-Card, Prossecor and Power Supply from a working machine they work fine so could it be the motherboard......I’m lost...Before I buy new motherboard I would like some advise

hmmm, have you had any problems before? Have you taken apart the Computer at all? And if you have, maybe you bridged the motherboard. repost that way we can help you further :P

No problems before....
Like i said went on my hols and came back turned pc on fans and lights come on but screen stays in standby mode
I have tried the HDD, G-Card, Prossecor and Power Supply from an other working machine and they don't do anything the only thing i have not checked id the Motherboard...That's because i don't have a spare one LOL
As soon as i turn the socket on the pc starts up the power button on the pc case does not switch pc off i have to unplug it or flick switch on power supply off...

do you get any beeps fron the machine?

before you went away was it all working OK no problems?

how long were you away, could anyone else have access to the machine?

Honestly, I'm leaning more towards a hardware malfunction. Like brain said, did anyone have acces to your machine? Because sometimes, if you have the IDE cables backwards the computer will not boot up. Also, If that is not the problem, then I'm going to go back towards the motherboard. Your motherboard might be shot.
