    Hey Big Ste,

How long have you tried leaving the computer on before you "pull the plug"?
What do you mean "when typing the computer will beep"? Is it whenever you press any key? Is the sound coming from the computer itself or from the speakers?

How do you know that "the hard drive turns off"?

    Please paste back:
    - Operating System
    - Service Pack
    - Antivirus
    - Amount of RAM
    - CPU

    Thanks!

In addition to Matts, questions, shut down problems most often are caused by hardware driver issues. Look in device manager and see if there are any yellow or red warning icons.

What happens if you boot into Safe Mode? Can you type without beeps? Can you shut down okay?

Keyboard beeping be something as simple as the keyboard connection is loose - however, it is more likely to be a driver issue, or malware. To make sure you system is free of malware, see Cleaning Out Malware.
