I have a PC and a laptop. I don't want to get rid of the of the PC but i do want to lose the monitor. Is there anyway i can run the base unit through the laptop without messing up the laptop? If so what dio i need to buy in order to achieve this.
Please help me as the wife will make me throw the pc out and i can't be having that.

Hi Fraser and welcome to D-A-L.
Just to get this clear in my head, you want to run your PC without a monitor and use your laptop's monitor - is that right?
I know of no way to view the PC video directly with a laptop - in otherwords, using the laptop's graphics and monitor. You can run remote software on the PC and control the PC through the laptop. I use RealVNC, but there are others. This allows me to view and control other computers from mine - through my network. The other (remote) computer does not need a monitor, keyboard, or mouse. HOWEVER, I would never go without having a monitor, keyboard and mouse handy - if you start having problems, often the only way to troubleshoot and fix is via local login with a mouse and keyboard while looking at a connected monitor.
If I could only have one computer - the laptop would be flying out the door in a heartbeat (maybe along with the wife!!!). They are more expensive to buy, maintain, upgrade (if upgrade is even possible) and replace - though that applies to wives, I was referring to laptops.
