    Computer Powers on, No BIOS?

    Hey all, yet another problem.

I had recently partitioned my HD, and today after school, I went out to buy some white spirit for my CDROM Drive. It was working before I left, and when I had come back, its dead. I can turn it on, but my Monitor wont show anything. And theres no beeping sound I usually get when I turn on my computer

What is the make and precise model number of this machine?

Some machines have a "hidden partition" which houses bios infomation (Comcrap being one). If you blew away such a partition on such a machine, you will have to download the data from the manufacturers site to get the machine "back".

    Anyway, Model Number and make.

Make: Packard Bell/Hewitt Packard (Or however you spell it)
Model: how do i find out? Noob at this stuff xD

Download, install, and run Everest Home Edition on this machine. (Clean FreeWare) Once it's finished loading and running, click on the Report Wizard in the Menu Bar. Save all hardware related pages (the default) to a TEXT file in a location of your choice. (It will default the location to C:\Program Files\Lavalys\EVEREST Home Edition\Reports, unless you redirect it.)

Compress (zip) the text file and attach that zipped text document to your next posting. (When posting, click on Advanced, and just below the posting box you'll see "Additional Options", and within that, "Attach Files". Click on "Manage Attachments" and follow the prompts. Browse to the file and choose UPLOAD.)

If you cannot start the system getting an ID would have to be from physical observation.

Packard Bell is a different manufacturer from Hewlett Packard (HP/Compaq).

You could try booting without RAM and see if it beeps for you.

You could try to clear the CMOS.

I would also strongly suggest the following:

Having followed all your threads here could you please clarify and condense all your issues?

You have gone from no CD drive to no hard drives to trying four different operating systems.

Now it appears your CD works and you installed some operating system.

    Then it all crashed again?

    Might try a new PSU.

Anyway it helps us help if we know as much as possible about the history and current status of your issues.

I would merge all your threads but that would just be more confusing at this point.

Bad idea to use a cleaning solution on the lens - best bet is to blast it out with compressed air.

Sorry, I forgot you couldn't get "into" the machine.

    OKay, cool.

I was playing Half Life 2, when all of a sudden, it just restarted, giving me the BSOD. I've had one of these before, so I just turned it off and turned it back on again. Bad idea. It got to the splash screen, showed me the BSOD and restarted. I started to panic. So I spent three days trying to fix that. In the end, I got my XBOX out and took out the CDROM Drive and plugged the 40pin into my computer (CDROM power for XBOX is different (12pin)). I managed to delete my partition and create a new one. I made two so that I can dual-boot later on with XP and Ubuntu Linux. I split my partition into:

    Partition One: 50GB/75GB
    Partition Two: 25GB/75GB

I start getting happy, but it was 3 in the morning, so I went to bed so that i can wake up in time for school tomorrow. I wake up, turn it on, and it works perfect. I turn it off and go to school. I come back with a friend who is interested to see how I used my XBOX as a CDROM. I showed him, and he was impressed. I turned it on to show him, and it worked perfect. I turned it off, and me and him went to the market to get some White Spirit. I came back, turned it on, and it wasnt working. I have no idea what happened.

    Purchase History:

    512MB DDR - About 5 months ago
NVIDIA GeFORCE 7800 - About 2 months ago
1GB RAM DDR - About 2 weeks ago

That's all the info, I think. God, I feel stupid... Thank you guys for helping me. I have no idea what to do!
