Hey All

My CD-Rom seems to not be working... The CD-Rom powers up, and the CD Spins inside, but it doesnt seem to be reading. The spinning sounds slow. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

is it all CDs, have you tried a lens cleaner?

Yeah, all CD's don't work, and no- I havn't tried a lens cleaner. It's 7:30PM, so I don't think PCWorld will be open. Thanks for the advice, on monday I'll go and get a lens cleaner and see what happens.

what O/S are you running?

has this just started to happen?

it happened on Tuesday, the same time I had my BSOD Problem. I'm running Windows XP Home, XP Pro, Windows 2000 and 98, and the problem applies to all.

The wife's alcohol based perfume and a cotton bud works as good as any cleaner

but you'll have to do a bit of dismantling to get to the lens, it's worked for me many times, from pc cd roms to hi - fi units

isnt there a CD with a sort of brush on it that spins and cleans the lens? I used to have one..

a lens cleaner does have a couple of brushes on a CD
