Question Upgraded Graphics card causes blackout

Hi guys, hope someone can help - here’s the deal:

Son had a 1mb graphics card - no good for games.

Got this Radeon 9200? (says R92LE Ver 1.2 on the card), from fleabay,
ATI R92LE RADEON 9200 128mb AGP (interface) 8X TV/DVI/DUAL VGA but with no drivers.
So i thought,i'll go on www.driverguide.com and have a looksee.Downloaded and saved to CD:

    RADEON 9200 SE 128MB Ram, driver_ati_...exe
    ATI Radeon 9200/9200LD/9200SE, 790xp2...exe
    and RADEON 9200, wxp-mce-8-01-040421a-015...exe

Put CD in sons pc, searched for drivers, found one that got both yellow exclamation marks cleared in Device Manager, thought, great!
Restarted and the screens black......think maybe screen resolution's too low, ( although can't adjust, as screens black! ).
Have put old 1mb card back in,it works,( low res, can't adjust it) and put radeon files in recycle bin.
Put new radeon card back in...black screen.

AAaargh! any help muchly apreciated, thankyou, Dave.

did windows not find any drivers that worked?

is the graphics card any good did you get any guarantee?

Of course you're right, but it was a bargain buy, tenner all in.Looks like i might be lucky - i've just tried it in the wifes pc, (well i'm not going to wreck mine,am i...),loaded the files from driverguide (radeon 9200 series, 7.94 file or summat, and IT'S WORKING!!! After setting the resolution for me(her pc).

So now i've just got to figure out how to reconfigure my sons screen resolution with a totally black screen..unless it's summat else

It's all normal,as if it's working, but then the screen goes black/standby.

I tried it in the wifes pc and it worked fine ( i d/loaded the drivers from www.driverguide.com ).The wife's AGP card works as well, in hers, but not in my boys( which the radeon is for ).

So the wife's AGP card, and the Radeon AGP card aint working in my boys pc, but they both work in hers...
The boys pc fires up with these cards in, but the screen goes onto standby,
but it all works ok with their OLD white PCI 1mb card.Bummer, sounds like the monitor isn't seeing the brown AGP jobby/AGP goosed..
    or:
How do i make sure the BIOS is configured to use the AGP port for grpahics.
    ( after hitting Del etc)
    Thanks for your time, Dave.

when you press Del to get into the BIOS you may see a setting for PCI/Plug and Play press enter and see if it have primary graphics check to see if it's set to AGP

    ah,now then,
in the pnp/pci it doesn't say agp, it says:
    pnp OS installed..............NO
    Reset configeration data...Disabled
    PCI/VGA Palette snoop......Disabled

    Should I enable them?

All it says at top of screen is:
CMOS Setup utility (c) 1984-1999 Award Software???
    It has 'Load failsafe defaults,
    and " optimized "

you'll need to find somewhere in the BIOS for setting the primary graphics to.
    AGP.

don't alter the setting PCI/VGA Palette snoop

    what make motherboard is it?
