    GeForce 6200 - Flashing Display

Hey guys i have an annoying problem, and some fast help would be wonderful. I have just installed a new GeForce 6200 graphics card, loaded all the drivers etc, and for some reason my display has started flashing. About every 6 seconds the screen goes black for less than a second, and then the cycle begins again. It is just the display (i think) as I can type whilst it is black and what I am writing is there when the image returns, so the actual programs I am running etc don't seem to be effected and the computer is not restarting or doing anything else abnormal at all. Quite irritating though! I assume the problem is linked to the graphics card as the monitor and cable is fairly new and was not having this problem before.

What prompted me to buy a new card in the first place was that my display kept disappearing and the monitor kept saying NO CABLE. I assumed this was due to a problem with the physical connection as moving the lead/pushing the old card lightly etc solved the problem for varying lengths of time (sometime fine all day, sometimes virtually unusable). I also hooked up the monitor and cable to another machine and was fine, so again I assumed it was a component in the PC. Not sure if that is relevant or not but thought I would mention it anyway.

Bizarrely, my current problem was not there for a little while after installing the drivers and restarting. I tweaked the resolution, colour settings and refresh rate, but nothing happened immediately after doing so, so I assumed all was fine. A few minutes later I noticed that dreaded acrid burning smell, and the flashing started. I assume the smell is just the solder heating up (at least I hope so).

Any help appreciated! I would list some specs but I don't know what you need to know that would be relevant. I use Windows XP Pro, can find out more if you need me to.. .Hope this is in the right section too.

Tried restarting and reseating the card and seems OK at the moment... Having said that it was OK for a few minutes before!! Fingers crossed anyway, will post back if it recurs and if anyone knows what caused it I would be intrigued.
