ok so i was given a laptop from a friend who didnt need it anymore, n it has been great until recently every time i went to boot it came up with a screen saying hard drive failing or failure n a blue box saying press f1 to ignore. so anyway now it wont boot at all so iv taken my hard drive out because i have been told there is some kind of cable or something i can connect to my hard drive itself to take all of my files etc off it, as i have lots on it i dont want to lose! does anyone know of anyway i can take info off my hard drive?

get a usb 2.0 to ide cable and atatch the hard drive to another computer with the cable and copy all the data over

fantastic, does it just connect to the gold spiky connection bit.. lol i sound so numb but i dont know anything about hard drives.
