    Intel 975XBX2KR Setup

    Hello all.
    First poster, long time reader.

Assembling a computer and running into problems getting this MB to recognize my hard drives. Here is the configuration:

    - Intel 975XBX2KR Motherboard CPU Bundle - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Processor 2.40GHz OEM
    - Corsair Dual Channel TWINX 4096MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz Memory (2 x 2048MB)
    - XFX GeForce 8800 GTS / 320MB DDR3 / SLI Ready / PCI Express / Dual DVI / HDTV / Video Card
    - Authentic Windows XP SP2 (fully updated as of a month ago)
    - Ultra / X-Finity / 600-Watt / ATX / Dual 80mm Fan / SATA-Ready / SLI Ready / Blue / Power Supply
-Hard drives are a Maxtor 160GB EIDE and a Western Digital 80GB EIDE (which both come from a previous system, windows already loaded on the Maxtor)

I cannot get the system to recognize the hard drives and a blue screen appears after "windows did not successfully load previous session" message appears.

Can I run the OS on the Maxtor through the IDE channel on the MB without the drive being a SATA? The installation instructions are poor at best leaving me with little resources to solve the problem. Any suggestions would be great!

It sounds like the motherboard recognizes the hard drives. The BIOS that is.

You cannot just run XP off an old hard drive on a new motherboard.

You must Clean Install XP on the new motherboard.
