    Double-sided printing - Vista

I have a Epson stylus D88 inkjet printer which when I was using Win XP I had the option to print double-sided.

Now I am using Vista 32 home premium and no longer have the option.

Please can someone help me. I really need to be able to print double-sided as soon as pos.

    ATB Gary.

See if Epson has an updated driver for your model specifically made for Vista.

If not then there is not much you can do but upgrade the printer or use XP.

    Thanks jephree for your reply.

When I looked on Epsons site, alongside my model printer it said "in box". Which means that the driver is already in\on Vista.

I'll keep on looking. I'm sure there is a way for me to print double-sided.

    Thanks again for your response.

I cannot find that model at Epson:

    http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/s...oType=Overview

    Does it specify Vista compatibility?

I see other posts where Epson drivers are not Vista compatible and hence no double sided printing.

Sorry for delay. Yesterday I replied stating what I had done, went to submit and got thrown out and lost reply. I was just a little, how do you say, ANOYDE. "That don't look right".

Cut a long story short. -
From the "PROBLEM REPORTS and SOLUTIONS" page I was sent by link to, (eventually) http://esupport.epson-europe.com/Vie...GB&kbid=311370 On this page there is a list of printers. When I scrolled down to the epson stylus D88, It said "IN BOX". At the top of the page the LEGEND says- Drivers are already included in your operating system and the installation process will start as soon as you will plug your product in.

PS. Sorry, the link doesn't work. The page is there though.
I got there via- CONTROL PANEL > PROBLEM REPORTS AND SOLUTIONS > CONTACT EPSON FOR REPORT, (LINK) > EPSON, (LINK) > UNITED KINGDOM, (LINK) which took me to the above address.

I hope this is of some help.
    Thanks, Gary.

    Printer:

    Driver listed:

As mentioned in searching your issue I find many posts regarding Epson printers and Vista. If the "double-sided" option is not listed then it has been reported as either a driver issue or the printer is not capable of this function under Vista. It is also important to note that different versions of Vista have very different capabilities.

For example the Home version lacks a lot of functions that the Business version has. For example no fax service. This might also be a issue with printer options.

I have just received an answer from Epson which has solved the situation.

    This is what they say:-
Please be advised that unfortunately we have not produced any updated drivers for your printer for Windows Vista. There are however, alternative drivers included as part of your operating system. To install these drivers please follow the instructions below:

    1. From the Desktop select Start > Control Panel.
    2. In the Control Panel select Printers.
    3. In the Printers window click on Add Printer this will bring up the Add Printer wizard.
    4. Select "Add Local Printer".
    5. Select the correct Port for your Printer and click the "Next" button until you arrive at the screen entitled "Install the Printer Driver".
    6. This screen will be split into two parts. On the left hand side you will need to pick the Manufacturer, in this case EPSON. On the right hand side select the model of your printer, when you have selected the options click the "Next" button to continue.
    7. Keep clicking "Next" leaving all the settings at default until you reach the final screen where you will need to select "Finish".

This driver is not compatible with the EPSON Status Monitor, Print Preview, Double Sided printing and does not show a progress monitor while printing. To view the ink levels for the printer you will need do the following.

1: Open Start Menu and select Control Panel.
2: In the Control Panel open Printers.
3: Right click on the printer icon and select Printer Preferences.
4: In the Printer Preferences Main tab click on the option to “Get Ink Levels”

This will then show the ink levels.

I hope that this will be of some help to others as well.
Thank you for your time and help.

    ATB Gary.
