Hi,

hope someone help me.

When playing back a dvd or an audio cd on my home computer the playback is slightly 'stuttery' and the sound is particularly distorted.

I am suspecting this is a problem with the drive rather than the discs as I have tried several and get the same problem.

When playing music files on iTunes the sound is fine, it is only when the drive is in use that I have a problem.

Have you tried cleaning the drive?

Either canned air or a get a cleaning package wherever DVDs are sold?

Do you have another drive to try?

I have just 'uninstalled' the drive and rebooted, the system has detected the hardware and at this moment everything is playing ok.

I still think I might give the drive a clean though
