HELP!! Monitor not recognized/no error beeps...nothing
Computer: Compaq Presario Running XP sp2
Monitor: doesn't matter
My sister's computer was running with a photo screen saver froze on one picture. Moving mouse, touching keys on the keyboard - nothing woke up the computer. She attempted to power off with the power button on the front, no response (she did not know to press and hold in the power button to force it off). So, she powered off with switch on the back of computer. When powered back on, computer seems to be starting, however the monitor is not recognizing any signal. Light on monitor stays amber (never green). I see nothing - no POSTS, no errors. Try pressing F8 for safe mode, nothing works. Only other thing that happened is the day before the freezing up, the monitor flashed off and then came back on again, once.
I find it odd that if the monitor is not recognized there are no beeps what so ever upon boot up.
I have pulled the video graphics card and reseated it. I have tried to connect a monitor to the on-board connection, no luck. I have even put in another graphics card that I know works into this computer and still nothing.
I do not know what else to try. Can someone please assist me?
Thanx

Did you try a different monitor?
If it is an LCD flat screen is the power indicator on the AC adapter (transformer) green?

Sorry for the delay in replying. Yes, I tried different monitor, reseating all connections, etc. I finally spoke with another computer tech who asked me to check the systemboard for bad components. That was it!! I replaced the system board and all is great now.
Thank you for your response. And again sorry for the delay in responding to you.
Thanx
