Exclamation AMD Athlon M2800+ running at 600MHz-Should be 2GHz!

I recently purchased an AMD Athlon 2800+, which is supposed to be running at or around 2 GHz, but is instead running at 600MHz. Im using an Asus A7V400-MX, and have just updated the BIOS to 1009 (newest version) with no change.

I have read elsewhere that you can adjust the multipler or clock frequency to help solve this problem, but I cannot find anything like this in the bios.

The Bios has several sections that are unavailable for selection (greyed out) as follows.

    CPU Speed: 600 MHz
    Cache DRAM: 512k
    Current FSB Frequency: 100MHz
    Current DRAM Frequenct: 133MHz

Below is a post from Belarc System Advisor with all other hardware info.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

Bump: Well, the computer functions (for the most part) as if the processor really was a 2GHz. Unfortunately, sometimes things really slow down. I have Avast CCleaner, and adaware, so I dont think It's a virus. Any ideas?

Not sure what mean in your 2nd post. Are you now saying the CPU is running at full speed? In your first post, I note your FSB was set to 100 - that most likely was your problem, but now I am confused as to what is wrong.

When you right click on My Computer > Properties, what does it say for your CPU speed?

Avast and CCleaner are good at what they do, AdAware is only fair. I recommend you look through Cleaning Out Malware for supplemental scanning tools.
