Computer will not turn on
ok, so for some revenge in a long spat with my friend, despite how it happened, his cd, dvd, and both harddrives were disconnected, and memory sticks taken out, the computer was not on, not connected by a power cord or to anything else (i.e. mouse monitor keyboard speakers camera etc) and they were disconnected properly and with care, wasnt tryin to completely screw him over, just piss him off a little lol, and after plugging everything back in, his computer turns on, beeps three times, and nothing comes up on the monitor, it just runs and the monitor displays nothing. I checked to see if the ram was seated incorrectly but theres no way it can be, the primary on the motherboard is connected to cd and cd/dvd drives, secondary goes to both harddrives and floppy is connected to the last one. When i unplugged the computer i left all the wires near where they were, so as not to confuse him, but unfortunately before i got home he attempted to put it back together and it doesnt work.
-
ok what do you mean there is no way the ram could be seated incorrectly?
-
the sticks are good, and ive tried every which way to put them back in, i dont know how it could be a ram problem, but i am definately willing to entertain all reasonable ideas toward getting the computer up and running.

Try one stick of RAM in the first slot.
BIOS error codes vary depending on the make of BIOS but 3 beeps is most likely a RAM failure.
-
still beeped 3 times no matter what stick was in whatever slot, single stick or with both sticks. getting rather annoyed with this computer, lol. hopefully you guys have a few more ideas up your sleeves heh, cuz im out of ideas. thanks for your guys help btw, quick responses are very nice.

my friend is under the firm impression that static electricity from my hands fried his motherboard and/or harddrives during the unplugging of his computer.
-
Hard drives are not even in the equation at your failure point.
A static discharge is always possible but at least you have some life in there.
Try powering on with NO RAM. Do you get the same beeps?
-
ya no ram in = same beeps
