Hi guys, I really hope some one can help me here. I have been building a pc and am having a slight problem. It just will not boot the hard drive. The MB lights do come on, and the PSU does work as the fan is spinning. I tried changing the PSU, the CPU, the Motherboard, The Hard drive, cleaning the memory, changing the Ide cables. And still it will not boot or even try to boot the hard drive. The only thing left is the oldish case I am using, but for the life of me, I cant see as that would have anything to do with it. Please give me your best . Thanks .![]()
This is the specs I have been using.
Winfast 754 MB
AMD xp 3000 – 2.0 MHZ Processor tried different processor
200 Gig HD- tried different ones
FX 6200 Nvidia Graphics card
1 Gig of Crucial RAM
do you get any beeps?
will it boot from a CD?
has the hard drive got any O/S on it?
No beeps. Has got O/S on it. As it will not allow me into the bios, I have not tried a cd as yet.
Cheers
no beeps doesn't sound to good
is the motherboard etc the same as the old board that the O/S was loaded with?
were you careful with ESD?
are all the parts new?
Well I try to be always careful. No, I am trying a different motherboad because the last one was similer prob.
Nope, I was just going through a series of elimination. I am now looking at resetting the c-moss.
Hi BrainDamage,
I think I might be able to announce this problem possibly solved. As the warranty was still active on the processor and motherboard, I was able to take both of them back to the shop, I bought them from. I shall have to wait and see if he actually exchanges them, depending what he decides has gone wrong.
Thank you for all your help , once again.
Lucky.
hope all goes well and the problem is solved.
if you brought all the bits from him, he may have some pointers on what happened
let us know how it goes
I Just got back today with the MB etc. He reckoned one of the processor pins was bent a bit. Ah well, so much for Amatures like myself, always lible to make mistakes. So there you are, I have it now, up and running.
Cheers again for your help.
