Another "computer won't boot" thread...
My brother has an e-machine C3070. I re-installed windows for him as his computer had not been maintained since it was bought for him. For some strange reason, when the computer is turned on, it immediately goes to a screen where it shows a large white on black e-machine logo, and right next to it, [F2 for bios] and [f10 for boot menu]. This is how it was before, yet I thought a fresh re-installation of windows could fix it. I was wrong. It simply sticks to this screen and the only way to get passed it is if I go to the boot menu and boot from the hard drive, and sometimes I have to hard-reset it 2-3 times before I'm even able to get to the boot menu. Anyone have any thoughts as how to fix this?
Thanks in advance.

Windows is not going to affect anything at the BIOS level.
Check your BIOS Setup for either "Set Defaults" or other options on how the computer starts such as "Quick POST" or "no logo" etc.

Thank you for your fast response. I tried setting the bios settings to "optimized defaults" but no such luck. Maybe the bios needs a hard reset?

You might try reloading the Motherboard Driver Package here under Downloads > BIOS:
http://www.e4me.com/support/product_...es&model=C3070
It is not really a BIOS update but apparently the closest eMachine comes to it.

I had to hard reset the motherboard, and then everything seemed to work fine.
Thanks for your help.
