Primary hard disk drive 0 not found
So i turn the computer on and I get this error message:
Primary hard disk drive 0 not found
is my hard drive just need to be replaced or what else can be done to fix the problem?

Is this a new problem? Was it working previously?
Have you changed any hardware? Been working inside?
Have you made changes in the BIOS?
Check the BIOS Boot Menu to verify your system drive is set to boot.

i looked in the bios and it says
Primary drive:none
so i am assuming it is not detecting the hard drive at all. The hard drive has been making noise for some time, and I got several BSODs before reciving this error.

Do you only have one hard drive?
Can you verify that that hard drive is indeed the System drive (0)?
If the BIOS does not see it it is either a connection problem or the drive died. Noisy drives are dying drives.

ya thats what i figured,
the drive was going while it was still under warranty, about 8 months after I bought it. this message came up about 13 months after purchase. warranty lasted 12.
that was the first and last dell PC i ever buy.
Alway bought HP in the past and never had a single problem. I bought refurbished desktops that have lasted for almost 6 years. I hard to replace the CD/DVD drive in that one about 6 months ago. and my other computer had last 4 years with no problems.
Dell sucks

You could try to slave the drive in another computer just to see if you can access old data.
This process might also encourage you to build your own computer. That beats Dell and HP and all the rest!
