    Re: Overheating

Ok from everest my cpu is now 66 degrees celcius.
I added an 8cm fan to the back of my computer, and have just upgraded my graphics card to a radeon x1550.
I am awaiting some thermal paste so i will do that in a couple of days and see if the temperature goes down.
Any other suggestions? Also, i have a scaleo P fujitsu siemens computer, would it be possible to relocate the whole pc to another, better ventilated case? Thanks. Dan.

That's better but still too warm. I would use an external desk fan until you can get it down further.

If there are no other fan support options, then I whole-heatedly recommend it! There are many cases out there today that offer multiple 120mm fan support.

Sadly, you may have contributed to your heat problem by adding that x1550 video card as it most likely generates more heat than your old card. That said, I think upgrading graphics is the best thing you can do to improve over all PC performance - other than adding RAM.

Would it be a hard job to move my computer out into another case?

Would you recommend anywhere good to get cases from in the UK?
    Thanks. Dan.

Two main concerns. (1) Ensure you take the necessary ESD precautions so that you do not destroy anything by a static shock from your fingers, and (2) ensuring you mount standoffs where there is a corresponding motherboard mounting hole. Since cases are designed to support 1000s of motherboards, there may be extra spots to screw in a standoff - which may result in the motherboard shorting out.

This brass piece is the standoff that screws into the case. The motherboard sits on top of the standoffs and is secured in place by the mounting screw.
