I have an AlienwareM7700: Geforce Go 6800 256MB W/Omega drivers (not sure that they are the right ones), 2.75GB DDR2 533MHZ, 3GHZ P4 (Not duel core I think), and XP Pro.
My computer makes a B-r-r-r-r-r sound when running certain rendering actions. It can range from playing a graphically intensive game such as Test Drive Unlimited or just watching a Youtube video. The video rendering will slow down as the sound occurs or if the computer has been running slow it will speed up. It seems to be completely random.
The fan speed also alternates in speed and seems to correlate with the speed changes. Possible overheating issue?
One thing to note is that I tried to update the drivers after the problem started showing up and found out that Nvidia does not release drivers for the Go 6--- series. I was doing some research on modded drivers but I couldn't find any concrete data supporting the use of any specific driver. It seemed kinda hit and miss.
Anyways, thanks in advance for the help.
