My son had his 7th birthday yetserday and I took pictures and videos. It played back fine from a 1Gb card on the camera. I then put it in the multicard reader to download to my pc and the computer said there was no data. So I reloaded the camera and it said card error. A new card plays/records fine. Now the computer has crashed and I cant start it up. The green 'on' light just flashes orange if you hold it on and the camera card is unreadable.
Not a good day! What can I do now?![]()
Is there anywhere that I can get the data off a card it the camera says card error and the computer will not read the card?![]()
As to the computer issue: Is it a Dell? If so do you have error LED's on the rear of the case? If so what do they read?
Just for the "why not" try removing the power cord from the wall for a few minutes and then try again. While the computer is unplugged hold in the power button for a full minute. This will drain all residual power from the computer.
Yes it is a Dell. Why? Are they reknowned for this?
I tried unplugging it and changed the power lead but I will try drianing it too. Thanks. If I can see error LEDs what do i do then?
The blinking orange (amber) power button is a Dell thing.
What is the exact Dell model and number? e.g. Dimension 2400 etc.
There should be 4 LED's they should show a color code such as: Green; off; red; off: etc. We can translate this pattern at Dell's web site.

Its a Dell dimension 5000 and I have looked for lights but I cant see any!![]()
Scroll down this page for System Lights and Diagnostic Lights and Beep Codes:

The lights (if the 5000 has them) would only light up after a failed boot.
Blinking yellow
A power supply or system board failure has occurred.
Check the diagnostic lights to see if the specific problem is identified. Also, see "Power Problems."
Very many thanks for that. No lights obvious but I will see if i can figure it out on the Dell web site tomorrow.
Nite -nite!
