computer powers up but moniter dont

    Exclamation computer powers up but moniter dont

    hi new to this forum am normaly good with computers but this has stumped me had me computer on last night and was fine turned off and powered it up today to see that the moniter dont power up but the rest of the computer dose, reset CMOS nothing tryied new moniter still the same so i thought it was me gfx card went out and baught a new one 80 notes thought this wont be bad got home pluged in and wam bang thank you still the same.

    any help out there i would be greatly thankful

    pc spec

    pentium 4 3ghz
    1 gig ram
    geforce 8600 256mb gfx
    200 gig hd
    winodws xp
    mobo ellitegroup 915-m5

    computer has just been reformated about 1 week ago

    That does not sound good. According to your motherboard manual, that board has on-board graphics. Did you try your monitor with the on-board graphics?

    yes and it still the same me mobo is 2 years old lol everything works in other computer, me hd when put in just keeps asking me how i want to boot windows up, me gfx card is brand new, 1 stick of is about 4 weeks old and everything else is about 2 years old.

    Some motherboards are warrantied for 3 years - check with the maker.

    Could it not be a monitor fault?
    Sorry if ive missed something, but if everything else works on the computer, no bios beeps??

    the motherboard is a possibility of course, but the monitor is aswell isn't it?

    You've tried two monitors, two graphics cards and the on board graphics. The only other thing I can think of that would keep the monitor blank, besides the motherboard, might be the PSU - but I am leaning towards the motherboard.

    Just to eliminate everything else, you could disconnect all drives, all but one stick of RAM, and all USB devices and boot - you should see the video card's splash screen in standard VGA if the motherboard is fine, the option to enter the BIOS, and then it will stop when it can't find the boot drive.
