Microsoft Microcode Update for Intel Core 2 CPUs - improves the reliability of systems that use Intel processors.
Thanks for the link!
eVGA just released a new BIOS for their 680sli boards mainly focused on Core2 Extreme issues. That made a noticeable difference on my system. Will run this update as well.
Well, from what I've been reading, if your motherboard maker releases a new BIOS with the new code, you don't need this update - and the other way around too - if you install the new update, you don't need the new BIOS (unless it also addresses other issues).eVGA just released a new BIOS for their 680sli boards mainly focused on Core2 Extreme issues. I installed the Microsoft Update and all is well.
The BIOS was definitely noticeable and all is as well if not better now!
That was the sixth BIOS update in six months. Fortunately it is an easy floppy flash. Floppies forever!
Thanks again for the link. I hadn't seen it posted elsewhere. First at D-A-L thanks to Digerati!
I agree. I always include floppy drives in all my builds. Great for flashing BIOSs, testing RAM, and installing 3rd party drivers. When you need one you need one. And they are so inexpensive, so why not?Fortunately it is an easy floppy flash. Floppies forever! That was the sixth BIOS update in six months. That's a lot!
