    Angry sound card problems

I've just had all the software on my PC replaced and have lost the sound from it, when i try to play any of the music i could listen to i get a message saying "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There may not be a sound device installed on your computer, it may be in use by another program, or it may not be functioning properly." Guess the drivers weren't re-installed. How do i identify the sound card to get the drivers. When i bought the PC new they were already installed and didn't get any disks with drivers on was told they were on the back up drive. I'm a bit of a thicko when it comes to these issues so any help would be greatly accepted.
aLL I CAN SAY IS THAT THERE IS AN ON-BOARD 6 CHANNEL AUDIO CARD
