    Motherboard and Processor HELP

I am trying to speed up my computer that now has a pentium 4 1.7GHz processor. I used Belarc to acquire information on my Motherboard and it says this:

    Operating System
Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 (build 2600)

    Processor
    1.70 gigahertz Intel Pentium 4
    8 kilobyte primary memory cache
    256 kilobyte secondary memory cache

    System Model
    VIA Technologies, Inc. P4X266-8233
    Enclosure Type: Desktop

    Main Circuit Board
    Board: P4X266-8233
    Bus Clock: 100 megahertz
BIOS: Award Software International, Inc. 6.00 PG 11/23/2001

I am new at this and want to know exactly what speed this will support so I can speed up my computer, but I do not know how to figure this out. Thank You for any responses. PLEASE HELP

P4X266-8233 i the VIA chipset but does not ID the motherboard.

You might try CPU_Z just to see if they can ID the Mainboard.

As the BIOS is 6 years old I doubt that there is much to upgrade.

Probably best off looking to build a new machine.
