Kindly provide basic system information if you want our help, we don't read minds.
Windows version?
Make and model of computer?
Is this an ongoing problem or a new problem?
Have you installed any new hardware or software prior to the onset of this problem?
If you turn off Hibernation does the computer shutdown and restart without any problem?
thank u and sorry Bear! I just wanted someone to enter here and could look into my problem ! I have all my system details attached! kindly look in to it! one thing is true that i tried to hibernate for the first time and i was stuck up with this problem! No other problems reg. shut down or restart or stand by ! The problem is, once the windows hibernates, and restarted, the system hangs up with a black screen.
First thing to check is whether you have Intel Pro/Wireless 2100 wireless network card drivers installed (this is unlikely if it is a desktop PC). These have a problem with resuming from power-saving modes and a driver update is available.
Secondly, please reboot the PC, wait for the login process to finish (i.e. all startup utilities such as antivirus have finished loading) and then hibernate it without opening any other applications. Does it resume from hibernation properly? If it does, then there is a conflict with an application that you normally have open. If it still does not resume from hibernation, the problem is either with one of the background processes that loads each time you log in or it is a hardware driver issue (more likely).
