If you go back to the original configuration (2x512) does it work?

If not remove all RAM and boot. Does it BEEP then?

Thanks for your reply. However, I have already tried this along with only using one stick and in each of the slots (4). Still with same results. Also tried no RAM at all but no BEEP.

no worries guys, mobo is fubared. tryed all the ram cards everything on a slightly old mobo and everything fired up straight away...

    no more dual core

well e-buyer said they would replace mobo but i am never using them ever again... they suck hard.

    Wow. That's too bad.

BTW, according the ECS Elitegroup website here, there are two models with that chipset
    (1) KV2 Lite
    (2) KV2 Extreme.
There is no KV2 "Lite Extreme".

They do have different motherboard manuals, but the memory specifications for each is the same.

At any rate, do be careful about using cheap RAM - not all is compatible. Check your manual or the wizards on these sites:

    Crucial
Corsair (manual data entry only - no system scanner)
Kingston (manual data entry only - no system scanner)
    MemoryStock
18004Memory - comes recommended, but I have not purchased from there.

Hello, i know the ecs site does not have the board listed as KV2 lite extreame.

but the origonal poster is not incorrect. i am sitting here right now with a New Old stock ECS board. brand new in the box.

it is an ECS ELITEGROUP extreme KV2 lite. no kidding.

also the manual says KV2 Lite and EXTEREME in big color print.

I have had issues before with quirky mother boards - I have not ried to build this system yet as i am still gathering hard ware for it.

the thing that I keep seeing is that people are or rather WERE having all sorts of problems with this board and i believe i know why.

the memory configurations for this board are VERY confusing.

The few things that are mentioned are cofusing as well.

i am attemping to start off right with a Known correct cofiguration of memory that "Hopefully " maxes the system out.

from what i see in the manual small print notes: when useing the dual channel mode, you can only install memory moduals that EXACTLY ALIKE. no differences at all.

when you are useing any of the memory moduals NOT listed in table "B" in the manual

The system will not boot up. at all ... period.

Finally (and i do not think this should be final - they should have helped more)

This Board does not support the use of 3 Memory moduals in any configuration. If Three moduals are inserted the system will not boot up. at all - period.

now what i am still haveing a hard time finding is how in the hech 4 gigs of memory can go in this board and be recognized and utilized by this board.

table A in the manual lists no memory over 512MB - and Table B is a table that i am totally not getting at the bottom of table B I see a little small print note stating: Note For "*": <-- and that is no mistake. Memory types must be set to values consistant with system hardware.

i assume they would have put OR THE SYSTEM WILL NOT BOOT if they had more room.

so it wont work with 3 moduals, i guess it will work with two moduals ifthey are both the same but the tables do not say it will work with 2 gig sticks at all so that can't be the way to go to get the 4 GB max.

to get a 4gb maxed memory they must mean 4 DDR400 1 gig sticks. but what in the heck is all this crap i see in here MEMCS_1L_L*, and MEMCS_2H_L*, and MEMCS_2HL* there are no mstakes in the typeing i just did some coloms are duplicated but the have diffent info in the lines underneath for the same moduals listed. abouve those coloums are the words CHIP SELECTS.

beside those colums is anothe rcolum listed as Max DRAN Speed. 1T and 2T.

this is crazy frustrating and I see that I am probably right when i say that i believe that most people had trouble with this board because they had incorrect moduals in the board.

i never see any complaints from people who were only useing 1 stack of memory and were NOT trying to over clock on this board.

i do realize that ECS support is not answering any of my emails and I think thats a huge problem.

Try remove the mobo battery and holding down the power button over 20 seconds to discharge and reset the mobo.

reseat the CPU and use just 1 512mb RAM.

    Hope this helps!

imneverlast are you saying that you are having hardware issues or you are just having trouble trying to figure out how to get 4 gb of ram in your system? You must also remember that if you are trying to use 4 gb of ram windows won't recognize it all unless you have a 64-bit OS even if the computer recognizes it.
