PROBLEM RESOLVED. THANKS I have no sound from either the monitor or external speakers. I have double checked connections and attempted to resolve the problem which started about a week ago. I have also tried to remember if I have changed the audio setup but I'm positive I haven't. I do not have the system 'muted'. It seems as though some files have been deleted?

I get the following error messages when trying to set up the volume control on the taskbar: -
"Windows cannot display the volume control on the taskbar because the Volume Control program has not been installed. To install it, use Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel."

also

"Windows cannot execute SndVol32.exe, use Add/Remove programs to install"

Grateful fo a solution to the problem.
