Hii have an external DVD drive (an LG GSA E10N) and often when i insert a blank disc it will cause my computer to crash. I will then reboot the comp and it wil work fine and let me burn the disc thats already in, then when i insert another disc it will crash again. Im on Windows XP and get the following message on a blue screen :
"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. If this is the first time youve seen this stop error screen restart your computer. If this screen apperas again follow these steps :Check to be sure you have adequate disc space. If a driver is identified in the stop message disable the driver or check with the manufacture for driver updates. Try changing video adapters.
Check with your hardware vendor for any bios updates. Disable bios memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components restart your computer, press F8 to selct advanced start up options, and then select safe mode.
