More information would help. Make and model of the laptop? What happens when you try to boot? Can you get into safe mode? Can you get into the BIOS menu? Any error messages?
Why were you trying to flash the BIOS in the first place? What problems were having? Note the BIOS should be flashed/updated ONLY if one of the following conditions is met:
- The BIOS update addresses a specific problem you are having
- The BIOS update addresses a security issue
- The current BIOS is corrupt
The exception to the above is if you are instructed to update by the maker's technical support.
And note you should never update any hardware device driver or BIOS firmware simply because an update is available.

Hi
It is not a main brand, I flashed the bios because after I re installed Xp I have got an error on the address and it didn't recognize the DVD even when I put back the HDD with the previous operating system.
I am quite sure there was a problem that didn't depend by WinXp, it happened already to me once with a Thinkpad, I solved the issue resetting the bios and restarting to dos with a floppy, after that I have re-sinstalled Xp and everything went back to normal.
On this laptop I don't have floppy only a DVD and USB for a second hdd.
I don't know what's happen when I flashed the bios, I did it form Windows so to have warning in case of some trouble but as I launched the program it flash it and the n Off the pc.
I found some stuff on this site www.ecsusa.com I am going home to see if it's working.
Sorry for the late answer but I'm abroad +13 from us west time

ECS is a major world player.
You really have provided no additional information. Re-installing Windows is always a last resort option because you never learn what the original problem was in order to prevent it. And you did not tell us. An "error on the address" does not tell us anything - but would not indicate a need for flashing or reinstalling. Not recognizing the DVD could be anything - such as you did not install the drivers after the re-install.
If this were a PC, I would say pull the CMOS battery for 10 - 15 seconds in order to "reset", not flash, but reset the BIOS. But laptop's often have hardwired batteries and require the services of a technician.
Good luck and keep us posted.
