computer turns off after few seconds
my ac jack in my hp pavillion ze4900 laptop was broken so i replaced it with a new one, the new ac jack works fine and now my laptop charges but when i click the power button the computer turns off after 2 or 3 seconds, do you know what the problem might be?

Does your computer works with ac connected?
Does it work with ac removed (off of battery)?
Is there anyway you can remove the battery when you think it is fully charged and check the voltage off of the battery to make sure it is realy charged and your computer is not giving false indication? You should measure around 11 volts.
Who fixed the ac jack? How do you know it is done properly?

its not a problem with a battery or the ac adapter, i fixed it and i dont know its a simple procedure, just need to know what might be causing it so i can go back and check

Unfortunatley, without having more details, I for one, will not be able to further comment on this. Maybe somebody else will. There are only 3 of us here. Looks like they all went to bed. Check tommorow morning. Hopefully one of them maybe able to provide some help. Sorry.

An exact replicating 3 second shut off always raises the question of the default behavior of the On/Off switch.
If you hold the switch for 3 seconds it is designed to power off.
Could be the button sticking or this header connection was shorted.

hm i dont think so because the shut off is not exactly the same each time, sometimes it's 3 seconds sometimes it's 2 or even sooner, and i noticed that if i keep pressing the power button constantly then each time the shut off will be sooner

nvm fixed it, it was just the heatsink, it was not connected well, i guess i was in a rush

Thanks for the update.
Glad all is well!
