it wont work the tray will come out but thats it it dosnt reckonize it or nothing i have an xp and i dint mod it or nothing

i had this problem, i figured that the motor had broken (the one that spins the disk not the one that opens the tray)

if you put a disk in, does it spin? for how long?

does your computer detect that there is a disk in?

have you tried different disks?

the disk doesn't make any noise so i guess it does not spin

+sounds like you have a faulty motor.... you could try re-installing the driver and firmwarefor it although i dont think it will make much difference...

before you get a new one, check all connections at the back make sure nothing hs come lose

P.S sorry if i have not been much help but there is really not alot you can do

i reinstalled the driver and nothing happens and so u want me 2 open it and make sure nothing is loose

is it still under warentee?

i dont think it is anything lose (well could be a wire or ribben cable come lose) but it could also be a faulty motor

What is your operating system?

If it is an IDE drive did you set the jumper properly?

Are you sure your DVD's are compatible?

What software burning / playing are you using?
