Is my monitor broken??
i just recently installed windows xp at my friends house and he helped me format everything and what not.. then when i got home and plugged my computer into my LCD monitor windows started to load but then before it opened my desktop the screen went black and said "OUT OF TIMING" and under that it said "H:85 Hz : V:91kHz"... then i hooked up an old monitor and it worked fine.. do i have to buy a new computer or is it possible to fix?... because i can still get into BIO's but then after that it blacks out...
if you know how to fix it plz help me
Thanks

No. It is just receiving a signal out of its' frequency range.
Boot into Safe Mode and re-set your refresh rate and screen resolution.
Get there by right clicking the Desktop then click Properties & Settings & Advanced
Also if your monitor has setting buttons on it choose AUTO.

I also see this issue occurs if you do not install SP2 prior to the Graphics Driver which probably also requires .NET Framework 2.
Both available via Windows Update.

ok. i booted my computer in safe mode and i clicked propeties settings & advanced and then i clicked on the monitor tab but it wouldnt let me change the refresh rate and i tried to change the resolution but when i restarted my computer the same thing happened..

Have you installed SP2 and your graphics card drivers?
-
-
What is the make and model of your graphics card?
-
Also verify that your monitor is plugged into the graphics card and not the motherboard.

but ur right the graphics card was probably installed before SP2
