My Toshiba Tecra S1 is not playing any sounds.
Operating System: Windows XP professional.
I just received this laptop second hand so im assuming that xp was restored or something.
The sound is not muted and the device manager has the right info in sounds.
My volume control dial is missing but the sound should still work! I have also tried connecting external speakers up but the sound still does not work.
I went to the toshiba website and downloaded the sound driver but that did nothing.
What should i do now?? I need sound!!
Thanks
Well my computer doesn't come up with errors or anything. So it should work.
You need to download a driver from the make of your computer ex. if ur computers a toshiba go to the website and download the sound driver there.
hope that is some help![]()
The computer manufacturer is the best source for audio drivers.
Unless you knowingly have installed a Sound Card then you should have those drivers for that card.
If the computer is custom built the motherboard manufacturer will have the drivers needed.
Can u replace sound cards if u think they aren't working? How expensive are they?
Most computers have audio on-board.
Most people only use Sound Cards if they are extremely into audio or music production or high-end theater from their PC.
If you have not installed a sound card then you do not have one.
Most likely you have an AC'97 chip on your motherboard.
The drivers for these are best found from the computer or motherboard manufacturer.
I am splitting up this thread as it is two different posters and problems.
