Hi. I have recently installed windows xp home sp2 but since upgrading the sound has been strange. The thing about it is that it will play anything windows media related but as for windows sounds or thing like flash videos in internet explorer, nothing.
I have installed and re-installed the driver but to no avail. Anyone got any ideas?

The flash sounds may be due to a security setting. The system sounds should work. Are there any warnings shown in Device Manager?

Did you check the maker's site to see if there are new drivers for SP2?

Do note that just reinstalling HW drivers is often not enough. The install package often sees the old driver is there and skips over parts of the install process - possibly leaving a corrupt file or setting in place rather overwritting it with correct data. Therefore, the best way to reinstall drivers is often to completely uninstall the old drivers, shutdown, power off, AND UNPLUG for 15 or so seconds to remove all Standby voltages and to allow time for stored voltages to drain. Then power up and install the drivers again.
