My operating system crashed for some reason or another (I think my daughter dropped my laptop from our deck) and so I couldn't start up the computer. My tech friend told me to purchase a New Hard drive, install XP and buy a laptop HD enclosure to copy needed files from my old hard drive to my new one. Everything worked fine until I went to copy files from my documents and music..... it won't let me in on the old hard drive....... I imagine (and as i am not savy I could be wrong) that there is some protection imposed to prevent an outside access of the documents of a specified user unless you are logged in..... the problem is I cant log in.... can anyone help me please!!!!!

Right click on that folder and look at the properties to see if the folder is password protected.

No it isn't - still won't let me in.

What about file sharing, is that enabled for that folder?

I tried but is says access denied - I am actually trying this right now - I will let you know if it works
