    hello and sound help!

hi i am new to this site, and i have to say it looks nice... very nice.

i have just gotten into computer upgrading, and am taking classes in it, and i have been reading up about it for 2 months.

i bought a computer last year from PC world last year, the Packard bell imedia 1508.

and every 3 months i do a full system reboot, installing a fresh copy of windows xp home OEM, with my serial....

now normally it works fine and all the hardware works fine as well......BUT, this time it decided to be difficult:

i rebooted (freshly installed XP home OEM) it and for some reason, there is no sound. i have the cable hooked up like it was before the reboot, and normally the sound comes on fine, but this time there was no sound. i checked out my drivers, but they were fine, i upraged them but to no avail.

my sound comes from the integrated speakers in the monitor, so i upgraded the driver for that as well, but nothing.

now i get no sound what so ever ,

my sound card, is integrated with my mobo, and i tries each port on it, even the mic one, but still nothing.

this are my specks from Belarc:

check your Event Viewer for errors.

Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer

i believe in such a case you would want to check the System tab, and see if there's any RED crosses that's related to your sound issue.

hi thanks for you very quick reply.

i did what you told me to, and found 6 errors,

5 of them were CDrom errors, this was their message:

The device, \Device\CdRom0, has a bad block.

the other one was a system error. the message was

Windows Setup encountered non-fatal errors during installation. Please check the setuperr.log found in your Windows directory for more information.

    what do you think?

Belarc is not showing any audio device. The half duplex is audio for your modem.

Try loading the drivers from PB:

    http://support.packardbell.com/uk/it...4213001&g=2000

Realtek High Definition Audio drivers 5.10.0.5129 WinXP SP2 17-10-2005
