oops my bad i thought i updated that still didnt work i uninstalled winamp as he said but it still says complete and there is nothing on it and wont allow me to add to it

still no fix should i buy a new cd rw should that fix the problem or would that be pointless i need to know soon so that when i go to the store i will no casue i found a dvd rw on sale sale ends tonight i was gonna get it if it will help

If the drive can read OK I doubt that there is anything wrong with it.

Assuming the media is compatible with the drive the main problem would most likely be software.

Again I would remove all third party burners and try to get XP to burn a disk.

Then again if the price is right there is nothing wrong with having two DVD/CD drives.
