    overheating and noise issues...ahhh

hi my pc sometimes resets itself randomly.. I have a feeling it is over heating but am not sure what temp a p4 3ghz is suppose to run at..
My pc is also very loud with a clearly audible noise coming from the case not sure if its a fan. or if the heatsinks on my graphics card or standard intel heatsink on my cpu are normaly loud.

here is a list of my pc setup. If it helps to pin point weather i have a prblem with the noise or weather it is a normal traight for the brand components i have installed.

If anyone can help with these two issues id appriciate it.. thanks alot

    chris

The heating issue, try adding new thermal compound and clean out the dust of the fans once in a while. Noise issue, is it the HD? Theres not much you can do about it unless you switch different fans and stuff.

hi i have checked diffrent fans they dont seem to make a diffrence, makes me believe the problem is in the heat sink on cpu or graphics card.. think thats where noise is coming from aswell cos tested each hard drive seperately on another pc and they pretty quite. will post a reply if i find the problem. if anyone else has a leadtek geforce fx 5900 let me no if its a noisy card.

    thanks chris

Is it noisy as soon as you switch the PC on? If it is, disconnect the power plug from the hard drives so that they don't start up - this will completely rule out the hard drives being the problem.

If you run the PC with the lid of the case off, then you should be able to listen to it very closely (without touching any electrical components) and determine which area of the PC the noise is coming from.
