    Laptop display problem?

I have no idea where to post this problem, so I'll start here. My niece was playing World of Warcraft online when all of a sudden, her screen appeared to have what looks like a bullet hole and shattered glass on the right side of the screen. Of course there isn't a bullet hole and the physical screen appears to be fine. I attempted to restart in safe mode, but I can't see the screen enough to tell if it stalled (that's what it seemed to do). Could this be a hardware, software or virus problem, and how do I find out? I appreciate any help, it's her first laptop, which she got for Christmas. I think it's an Aspire laptop.

Were you able to start in Safe Mode?

Are you able now to restart in normal mode?

Sounds like a heat problem or an overloaded GPU. That laptop might not be capable of playing that game.

I wasn't able to start in safe mode, but not sure if it was because I couldn't see due to all the lines and cracks on the display. Would it help if I brought the laptop over to my house and hooked it up to my monitor?

Wait, so what your saying, is that the laptop screen is not cracked, but it looks like it when you start it up???
