Laptop turns on, blank screen, makes a beep, restarts. same thing happens again
Hello, I am new here.
Last night i was using my laptop as usual and noticed that battery symbol was on, even though it was plugged in an outlet. Since this has never happened before ( at least i haven't noticed it), i went on to restarting my computer.
That's when problems began. It was not booting anymore. It would freeze in a random spot of booting sequence and then restart and start all over.
Interesting thing was tat if i let it "rest" for a while, i would sometimes even load desktop. etc. but would still lock-up and restart soon after.
I've decided that it had something to do with that battery symbol and i unplugged it from a wall for the night, to see if it was fixed in the morning.
When i tried to run it on in the morning, Everything went fine. Windows loaded up and worked for about 5 min, until i tried to open Internet browser.
Bam. Computer froze.
But it was different this time.
Not it would not get past BIOS screen.
But it was just the beginning. With attempts to fix it with numerous solutions fro mthe web, it problem kept degrading my performance with every restarts until the point that i'mat now.
What happens is that when i press the power button, the screen stays black. I can hear the fans. Weird thing is that my laptop seems to be checking the CD-Rom. Its light starts blinking, there is some noise from it.
Couple of seconds later there is a beep and computer restarts, same thing happens. Screen is black the entire time.
I'm not too bad with computers but this has definately caught me off-guard.
Please help me out

What is the make and model of the laptop?
Sounds like heat.
Have you tried removing the battery and using the AC adapter only?
-
I have tried power supply only.
I thought it was heat at first myself, but it doesn't seem that way. All fans work as before. there is one beep everytime before it restarts.
Maybe memory failure?

What is the make and model of the laptop?
The manual would probably have beep codes.

Yeah, I've already been on that site and attmpted all the solutions they offered. None have worked.

I didn't see a manual on-line. Most PC's beep once after the BIOS POST just before loading the operating system. This means all is well.
If yours beeps then shuts down out of windows it is obviously something else.
I would still suspect something is too hot. Have you opened it up and cleaned it out? Checked the fans etc. ?
Perhaps try a new battery. You did try and run it with the battery removed?
-
I cleaned it all out. The only thing i'm thinking right now, is that it's a memory issue. Either Ram or HD. I can't the HD winding up, but thenagain i don't know if it's supposed to at this stage
Would help if i knew what BIOS i had.
And it is ice cold in all areas. It's definately not overheating.
Could it be the CPU?

Remove the RAM and boot it. It should have plenty of BEEPS then.
A CPU can overheat in less than 2 seconds and you probably wouldn't notice it outside. If you're getting into hardware diagnostics start with the RAM.
Remove it and see if you get BEEPS. If not the motherboard and or CPU become more suspect.
There is still the suspect battery as you received that indication.
Have you removed the battery and left it out of the laptop? If not you should.
