Hey guys, I've come across a problem a few weeks ago, and it's starting to drive me insane.

Sometimes it stops and doesn't come back until a few hours later, and sometimes its really quiet and soft. Othertimes, it's hideously loud and obnoxious.

So what it's doing is making a pop sound every second, and does it roughly 8 times. Then it stops for about maybe, 30 seconds to 2 minutes, and then bam - starts again.

Also, most of the time when it's popping my secondary monitor (I run dual monitors) flashes a raised bar of the screen in random places when the speakers pop.

I've seperated the cords, and I've turned it off/on, unplugged, moved the computer, tried different speakers - Still happens. Well, it stops when I turn the speakers off of course.

It's not doing it right now but it'll do it again before too long.

You said it started weeks ago. Did you then add anthing new to your computer (both software and hardware), or put any active component near your computer? If yes, consider reversing what you did. If not, first thing to do is to run a check on your sound card. make sure it is ok. See if the sound is coming from both speaker or only one. Mute each speaker thru sound card , at a time. Inside the sound card, if the vollumes are set to max, bring them to the middle range. Also, start paying colse attention to what you are doing (i.e. what programs you are runnig, etc), when ithe poping sound happens. That may give a clue.
