hi ive been having trouble recently with pc as it keeps freezing about a minute after i log in, before this it was freezing making a high pitch sound but obviously now the problem has become worse can anyone shed some light on this please?

Intel p4 3.4ghz
2gb DDR2 RAM
raedeon 8600gt gfx
maxtor 250gb hdd
sound blaster audigy 2 zs sound card

i have tried replacing the cpu fan as i had another problem with this and the temp seems fine so im stumped...although i dont know loads about computers :P

you think so?...ive only recently reinstalled windows...it crashed a few times before too...and my antivirus software is quite good.. .but ill try it thanks

tried reinstalling windows....but it has to be hardware as it froze during disk formatting, then when i try and turn it on again the pc powers up but the bios screen doesnt even come up unless i leave it for about 10min then turn it on again....HELP!!

ok now it has got worse lol :S i cant even see anything on the screen when i turn the pc on anymore....the gfx card seems to be working fine the fan is working and its not hot....the cpu fan is working fine....i also tried unplugging the hdds and souncard so i just had the ram the mobo and the gfx card plugged in....but still no luck

Remove the RAM and try it. It should beep at you continuously.

If so then put just one stick back in and try again.

If no go try a different stick or different slots.

Any luck there?

the mobo beeps when RAM isnt there but there was no joy with moving or trying different sticks

how much watts is your power supply pulling? probably not enough... might need to up the wattage...

sorry im a complete pc n00b how do i do that?....any reason why its only just started doing this its been working fine the past 8 months or so :S o and if it helps my psu atm is 585 watts

Do you know the make and model of the motherboard?
